for testing own pk3 files or soundpacks try on unpure servers
on all PS servers there is a cvar
it means own soundpacks if they are not in the server the server block it...

My deepest regrets for continueing this topic that has not been active since jan, but i didn´t want to open a new one about the same subject.
Thing is: my question is about the !news.
I would like to have a full explanation from someone who knows how to make them (if he´s/she´s willing to).
A sound clip that is 66.2 kb. 13 sec long and 32 kb/s. Is it to long?
Now i wonder how you cfg it and how you make the script.
All way until its rdy to be put onto the pure server.
Greatfull for answers.
Yours. Bla!r.

How to create your own !news soundpack;
- Convert all your sounds into .Wav files
- Convert those .wav files into MONO wav files
- Compress your files to save space
All this can be done with a Audio editing tool like, Soundforge, Audition etc. etc. even the standard windows recorder will do.
- Save your soundfiles and make sure they all start with this name; news_ news_soundfile.wav
- Once you have all your soundfiles you need to structure them into a .pk3 file
- First create a folder called; sound
- in the folder "sound" create a new folder called; vo
- in the folder "vo" you need to create seperate folders for each soundfile.
- Put a single soundfile in 1 folder and name that folder after the soundfile but without the news_ part.
The names of these folders will be the ones you actually use in the game; !news soundfile in this case.
Here is how the whole folder structure should look like;
sound > vo > soundfile > news_soundfile.wave
The folders 'sound' & 'vo' NEED to have those names.
Once you have the whole folder structure its time to create your .pk3 file.
You can do this with winzip or winrar. In those programs create a new archive (people using winrar make sure you select .ZIP)
now remove the .zip WHILE in winzip or winrar en change it into .pk3
