Banned because of brother!

Postby cubmoney » Sun Sep 30, 2007 16:18

My nickname on PS#2 is cubmoney. My name was banned permanently because of my name being a bot. I was banned on Sunday Sept. 30, 2007 on or around 9:50 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. Eastern Time, USA.

Here is the story. I let my brother use the computer while I was out. He wanted to know if I had any online games he could play and I told him of ET. I went out and when I came back my brother was gone, but the computer was still on. I looked at the screen to see a message saying something along the lines of "we don't like people who use bots...you have been permanently banned! I was so frustrated. I spent a lot of time trying to gain stats and skill levels, but all of a sudden I'm banned! Rest assured, my brother got his punishment, but I was wondering if it is possible to unban my name. I don't know what program he used, or even what a bot is or does. I also don't know who banned me. I saw no admin name on the screen or anything like that. I don't think it was PB because the message seemed specific to PS. I hope I get a good response. I want to play again!

Why wouldn't you believe me? All this evidence against me points to the time period I specified. Since I have played ET within a couple of months, I have had no complaints against my name. I may have had a few SK, but those were not on purpose. I have been loyal to PS and usually only play on your server. If I must, I will find another server and have to restart all of my skill levels once again, but I really don't want that to happen. I googled the MULTIHACK violation you mentioned and it is not for bots. It is caused by different programs which are all forbidden on your server which include different aimbots, eth32, and mutidudes of different hacks created by hackers. Since eth32 was the only one with a unusual name, I searched my computer for it. Eth32 came up as a .exe file within my brother's account, I am the administrator of my computer, that's how I was able to search his account. I hope you reconsider, I have no wish to cheat on any server. In fact, I often beta test games from microsoft, but mostly software from their website connect.microsoft.com. I was one of the original beta testers of Vista and Office 2007 and I am currently testing Vista SP1. If you wish, I can post a screenshot of any information you need to reconsider.

- And in no way am I pathetic. I do not wish to insult you, but judging people who you don't know on a single piece of information is very shallow for an admin.

whether we believe you or not is all beside the point though - i know it sucks, but this is where we draw the line and this is where the line is quite commonly drawn in ET, not only in the competitive scene, but also in the bigger communities.

your guid has been banned for hax, which means you have cheat coding in your installation. whether it was you, your brother or whatever is unverifiable, so if one would draw the line elsewhere then by extension any cheater would have to be excused. you seem like a reasonable guy, so i'm sure you can see the problem.

it may well be that you yourself never used hax and had someone abuse your pc - but that is whether pbbans' nor our problem. in the world of ET there is one rule: your guid is your responsibility. you can appeal your ban at pbbans.com. if they lift it, then we'll lift ours too.

i hope you understand this - this is nothing personal against you. and if you really didn't cheat, well then you were just very unlucky. as i said, we just follow pbbans.com & punksbusted.com. good luck.

Call it shallow, I call it experience.
I hope you understand that stories like yours really don't mean or say anything in the online (gaming) world.

IP's, guids and logs are the things we rely on. And even then, with a free game like Enemy Territory its dead easy to get some new guids and start playing again. We (as a community) have to draw a line somewhere, as you can read in the post above, from Lisa.

I can understand that cheaters make excuses similar to mine, but is there any way to start with a new name on PS#2 without it being banned? I really don't want to leave PS#2.

I started with PS#1 and moved to #2, but my skills and XP are no where near as high as I had in #2. All I care about is my skill levels and XP points. It's hard to gain those back. And why would you only ban my name on #2 and not care about the other servers offered by PS?

I didn't like PS#1 because not many people play on it. PS#2 had twice as many players and more maps. Anyways, I'm going to stop playing ET all together. I just downloaded America's Army, another free online game. It's more recent and offered by the US Army. I'm installing it now. It should be better, I hope. It has PunkBuster also, so I'll be careful this time and not allow anyone to use my computer while I'm not there.

Maybe some PS members will download and use the game too, although the file size is almost 3GB.
