Lagg issues and comments about Cortex Beta

Hi there,

Today my average ping was 142-196 while its normally 40-50; any of you have any idea why it was so laggy, im trying to figure out whether its client, server, or provider side, i noticed most dutch, polish and german people had this issue, which is annoying as hell since you cant time nades and jumps correctly.

About "Cortex Beta"

I love the idea of scurrying around in a huge house and us being the size of toy soldiers.
However axis spawn can way too easily be spawncamped, the fastest way out (AKA using dynamite and blowing up the roster near the showercabinet) is continuously being naded, rifle naded, doused in flames and filled to the top with satchel charges, and if you survive that their just camping a few feet higher and kill you while you climb up.

Second way up, (through the bathroom door up the stairs) is also quite easily kept in control by allied forces, as they can use the edges of the stairs, and keep an eye on the monorail, even advance downstairs eventually and camp the bathroom door.

I love the idea, but the axis spawn is just a little too tough if you have to play with inexperienced players, it quickly becomes dull and boring for any axis side player since they cant really do anything but die; experienced or not.

arguments such as: "well then go play allies lol"

are bullshit in my eyes, if we have any people amongst us who can tweak maps. please adapt cortex beta a little so axis survival time goes a bit more up, it doesnt have to be easy, but currently axis soldiers are being turned into cannonfodder.

any suggestions or comments about either cortex beta and the lagg issue are welcome, id love to see the map fixed and being able to play it without any lagg.

That map needs panzers and low gravity, otherwise its bad. And Allies have advantage yes... And when Axis dont have that table spawn, spawncamp/kill starts at axis spawn. And its very laggy map. Imo replace with some other map :)

its a good map but allies need to stop cry less and leave the bathroom (axis spawn) cause i see alot of grenade throwing on upper floor and in bath itself.

and for me is no lag on that map as far ive play it.

but in start allies would be massive camping arround axis spawn so axis cant even leave spawn alive cause they got killed straight.

thats the crap point of the map.

Yes on this map is much sc and sk but it is good map and i dont have lags on this map.

I actually just played the map as an american and I agree with kyr. The advantage you get while playing as an allie is huge. If you are just dying to kill a lot, well... become an allie in cortex and camp.

Oo and the lag issues. I notice that when the servers gets real crowded, most dutch people get massive lags, myself included. What to do about it? I really have no clue. I checked all my settings like 5 times already. Turned off every program I had running that could be connected to the internet but nothing helped.

Cortex is a nice idea, but it just won't work this way.

Damn ! they've stumbled on our plans to pwn the Dutch 8O

Cortex is fustrating! I couldnt believe it when I saw allies aiming mortar on axis spawn from below and flame throwers in the vents above. :|
In my opinion, this style of map (giant house) doesnt belong in ET.

The lag issues could be problems with provider, or some connectivity issues to other countries...happens to me time by time, and there is nothing you can do with that. If its only at Cortex map, then have no clue, I dont have any problems in there


About the map itself. Played it a lot of times, and all you describe is just about team ballance. I've seen games, when axis spawn is outcamped, and games, when allies cant move from their starting room. Its not problem of map, its just in players - many ppl just camp and get sprees instead of attacking, and thats the problem why this happens

The axis are supposed to be attacking. THe reason why this won't work usually is because the stairs is too easy protected (back, front and side fire) and the other way out at the side of the axis spawn is being rifle naded, normal nades, flamethrower or normal thompsons. so there's absolutely no coming trough. If you're lucky one person manages to sneak trough and it can take spawn over then you have normal game.

also other problems are people getting pushed to death on axis spawn or SC and SK.

I like the map but if allies camp too much it's no fun.

sk happens a lot at axis spawn but i love this map so its all good
