Re: The New Wolfenstein - Discussion Topic
Updated the opening post with a new article over at Intel.com, describing more about the technical and graphical techniques behind the game (worth reading imo).
It also describes a nice graph with the possible system specs for the new release;
Damn.. I need to upgrade..
Luetscher explained that the benefits of multi-core are dramatic in the new game. “The cost of physics used to be our dominant cost, and now it’s for free. Imagine that. While the renderer is doing its job, we don’t feel the computational pain of the physics at all. We use physics pretty heavily in this game, and it comes free to the end user on a multi-core, multi-threaded CPU such as the Intel® Core™ i7 processor. Low-cost physics took a little getting used to,†he admitted.
The game still runs on high-end single-core machines, however. Testing teams have sorted out all the combinations and verified that single-core users won’t be short-changed on the exciting gameplay, while users of multi-core systems will see the difference with better effects and physics simulation as the core count increases.

You have a source for that? I know the official website is still sort of blocked in Germany but when RTCW was released they also released a censored version for Germany. W:ET is kinda censored for everyone, in terms of Nazi symbolism (custom maps/gfx not included).
It would imo be very foolish of Activision not to release it in such a big gaming country like Germany.
Of course the rest of us in 'free' Europe can always rent an old B52 to air drop some copies in your backyards

IMHO:
The specs shown in the intel picture are NOT the official requirements to play Wolfenstein 2. Its just demonstrating "moore´s law" which says, that every couple of years (actually 2) the hardware capabilities double - or something like that. Moore was/is working for intel. And what hardware specs will a company mention, while advertising a new game? Of course their recent generation.
My preferred dictionary says (among others), anticipated is another word for imaginary.
Nevertheless, Wolfenstein will be a new game and if your PC just hardly manages to get ET running, you will need to upgrade (like for every other 2008/9 game, too).

Based on anticipated recommended specifications for Wolfenstein PC.

See the last video in the opening post I already added it about 2 weeks ago. You can watch it there without any annoying age restriction btw.

So, its quite likely that there´s one for W2, too.
Ye just figured that Wolfenstein 2 will run the ID Tech 4 engine which is Linux compatible (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Id_Tech_4). So there will be a Linux version... (as mentioned here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Return_to_Castle_Wolfenstein_2)
Wheeeeeeeeee
God bless wikipedia

Hmm, lets hope they release some kind of beta/demo before that or at least a multiplayer preview.
But with only 2 months to go I don't think that's gonna happen

Yeah, that's what a lot of people (ET/RTCW players) hope
The single player will have a lot of Call of Duty like features by the looks of it, details of the multiplayer are still kinda foggy. Looking at the screenies you can see that they scaled the classes down from 5 to 3, kept the Axis but replaced the 'American' allies for a French resistance group.
All of that running on a similar engine as ET: Quake Wars, which could turn out great or just awful as hell Especially when they incorporate stuff like Iron Sight, special abilities (Veil powers), unlockable weapons and ranked servers...
