Hey dudes, I got a topic im working on at college right now and It would be handy if I could ask you to answer afew questions on Google =)

Do you use google as your home page?

If yes - continue
If no, where? & do you even use Google?

Where did you first learn about Google?

Why do you think Google is better (or not) then other engines?

Thats it

I'm looking into the impact Google has on the internet and I need a general idea of why people use it. I've come across phrases on the internet like "Just Google it" and "Google is your friend"
Anyone know of any others or how these came up? xD

i use alltheweb.com, cuz ive used it from the beginning. but google is associated with so many other stuff and has more options for searching, so thats why its used so much i think. ofc its famous and has language support too, but i prefer something simple, like alltheweb :good:

I using google since I using internet , it's the best for me --> no horrible adverts, spam and have nice forums, image search+ gd translator and a lot more, anyways it's my homepage (firefox default) but I used to save opened cards so I use google bar

I have used Google since I had Internet and yes it have been always my home page. I learnt to use it when I used it 1st time

so it was pretty easy.
Google is just the best.

yes i use google as homepage

i didnt search google, but just my dad had is as homepage some years ago. Since then i always have had the same

I dont really have a meaning about other search engines, because i dont need them. Google was always perfect for finding what i needed. I think google is better because it has a better image than most of the search engines :wink:

and it also has some extra possibilities like email, translator, searching images. Its just a all-in-one homepage and thats why its perfect!

Nope. My home page is gmx.de (freemail, even i dont use the site xD)

Can't really remember where i learned about it, but i think i learnt about it when i 1st time used computer ^^

I think Google is one of the best engines because there are many users and it's most popular and biggest site, where you can find really fast information what you need.

no specific adds on both sides... just list written down with websites.. Also because i just started with it

How the heck should we know that? It's been my search engine since almost ever...

I like the fact that before you search their aint much options or text orwhatever.
Just a white screen, google name, some extra links above that you dont look at if you dont need it and the searchbalk. All other engines afaik are way to messy qua looks. Qua speed or performances cant i really judge since i only use google. Its fast and it gives what i need... What can you want more?
I dont like the fact that google is such an important player in the internet business cause their role is way to dominating and with google down many people wouldn't be able to surf at all anymore...

hhmz, sometimes whenever im in a weird mood i try to use live search. and it just aint it... the adds, and the disturbing colours, it just aint what im used to. and the completely add-free homepage ofc...

Homepage: Not google

When learned: I think it was the first search engine I used. I was about 7 or 8 when I first time used it (1998-1999). It happened at school.

Why good?: Google is simple and nice to use. It usually finds everything I need unlike some other search engines I have tried. These days it also warns if the page is dangerous so its also bit more secure to use than other search engines.

Google is my homepage, since its fast and I use it quite alot.

I first learnt about google as soon as I got internet.

Why google is the best?
It gives the most results, the best results and it has other features like Gmail etc.

A few days ago there was a program on Discovery about search sites(Google, Yahoo etc). It showed why Google became so populair, maybe its worth looking it up for your research, I cant remember the name though.
