[HOWTO] TrickJump

Postby NinjaPirate » Tue Oct 03, 2006 11:13

Hi all :D

I am bored at College so i am writing this tiny little guide to TRICKJUMPING!
Trickjumping is where you jump into places/travel fast speeds whilst jumping which allow you to gain access to places where most people cant. This is used sometimes when people are bored/doing objective/running away? XD on the servers. It is fun to do and makes people go "WOW" lol, its even better on PS servers because of all the big maps avialible and many places/landscapes to explore.

Ok, so now time to learn how to Trick Jump :D
First of all, when you connect to a server you need to change your FPS. A Professional Trickjumper/Amatuer should always use 333 fps. So open console and type in /com_maxfps 333.
Next, open your cvar list and check everything is OK (type in /cvarlist)
A low rate wil also mean more packets can flow equaling more FPS, do /rate 5000 in console.
If you dont have such a good video/graphics card in your system then press Esc -> System -> Fastest and then set your Calibur brightness to full scale.
This decreases your graphics but makes it run ALOT smoother, i use this during normal game play.
Ok, so you've done all of that. Now we are ready to jump, first of all, look at the jump your trying to do. Picture yourself doing it, see what obsticles (if any) are obstructing you and figure ways to ovecome them, maybe approach from a different angle? Adrenilin is a beautiful thing in trickjumping, use it! But PS has nice Stanima level recovery so that is ok instead of adrenilin.
You should also get your knife out, it is the lightest weapon you have and means you can travel faster. To see how fast you are travelling there is something you can enable to show your speed, its called speed-o-meter.
You shoud always try to make little circles with you crosshair when your jumping from a stationary/stopped position, its called Strafe jumping or Circle jumping, it helps you to jump further and faster.
Somtimes if you look down whilst jumping along a road really fast you get more fps because there is less detail on the ground.
You can also crouch in mid air by pressing C this means you can fit through gaps in walls which are high up. Crouching is also good when moving on high ledges you have trickjumped on, you move slowly so you can position yourself for the next jump. Every time you hit the ground whilst jumping hold onto tab, dont waste your stanima in mid-air hehe! Thats all i can think of at the moment that i use, add to this if you can think of any more :D (think i covered most of it ;))
If you ever want some more tips of hint then just ask me in game, i can help you get better, its really fun :D ive already shown some PS members some secret trick jumps like icey and others :D
