A good way to improve your skill is to spec good players. You will learn a lot like this.

And you need to have a good ET config (you need to trust your own settings, and not modify them each 5 minutes... ).

You want to train your skills?

Hmm a thing you could do is to play on ET Pro servers. ET Pro is abit harder then all the public servers and you learn alot of skills over there.

i only can recommend ET-Pro, too ..
Its not only a bit harder its much harder than NQ ..
U will learn to shoot there and learn how to play in a team.
Its my own Expirience so ..
Try it (:
Thats the best way to get higher skills ..

I'm playing every week about 2 hours ET-Pro since 2 months
And i have to say that i was getting better..

Yup ET Pro is recommended.

Public servers have some huge hitboxes, the hitboxes on pro are smaller so it's abit harder to shoot your enemy's.

i cant help a lot cause i´m rather new to the game but what i recognized:

* as soon as you start moving your crosshair moves down to the floor. when an infight comes up, you barely give any headshots because of that.
maybe try to keep your crosshair always in the height of the head, even when no enemy is in sight. maybe try to keep that in mind

* when there are several enemys near you sometimes you switched targets. better take one after each other and try to "use" the enemy nearest to you as some kind of shield (with strafing. and his teammates shoot him because they are behind him)

* that adrenaline after the start maybe gives you the feeling of beeing invulnerable. me, it would make careless. i would think "nice, i have 320 hp, i can do what i want now". maybe avoid it and try to do it the "conventional way". and btw: adrenalin sucks

*dont turn around and run away in open field

hope you dont feel assaulted when a noobie is trying see others mistakes. im sure you kill me with ease when we meet on one of the ps-servers. but thats what is saw

many greets

ps: some etpro publics where top players are:

Ok, I watched your 2 last demo.

2 big problems :

First one is already said (thx HP) :
* as soon as you start moving your crosshair moves down to the floor. when an infight comes up, you barely give any headshots because of that.
maybe try to keep your crosshair always in the height of the head, even when no enemy is in sight. maybe try to keep that in mind

Sometimes, you even shoot body on immobile target. Try to aim the head all the time. I know it's really not easy, but try it, and someday it will become natural for you :) Actually, my kill/HS ratio is ~1:1. If I can do that, you could too, for sure ;)
Train you on PS1 and PS2 (or PS4 with bots, its good too). Aim on the Christmas'Red cap, it's more easy :P

Other thing, disable all stupid effect like blood splatter. You can't see your target when your blood is all in the screen. And choose a good crosshair (size, form and color). Disable pulsing effect on it (but remember that your aim has good precision on the first bullets only).

Second one (it's the real problem, imho) : You can't track easily your opponent on 1vs1. Your mouse sensitivity is bad. That's why you loose most of time.
See this post and see my and uni0n's answers. Search for Raziel tutorial on the web (~100Mo, with some video).
Then, load a personnal ET server with caen2 map (or other, but this one if good for Raziel tuto). Use the MG on the house to found your optimal sensitivity for your gaming style and hardware. It take me something like 20min to find my own :) But I know it's perfect now :)

* when there are several enemies near you sometimes you switched targets. better take one after each other and try to "use" the enemy nearest to you as some kind of shield (with strafing. and his teammates shoot him because they are behind him)

Sometimes you can even win 1vs3 fight with this :)

* that adrenaline after the start maybe gives you the feeling of beeing invulnerable. me, it would make careless. i would think "nice, i have 320 hp, i can do what i want now". maybe avoid it and try to do it the "conventional way". and btw: adrenalin sucks

I agree. Don't use adre on start, it's useless. I personnaly use it only when I need to cross a zone with lot of enemy, for speed only (In PS1 where I play most of time adre give you only extra speed, not extra HP).

Hmmm I have similar problems with aiming. I have Razer Diamondback mouse and good drivers for it. I mean I can set X and Y axes - choose sensivity to each other. Which, in your opinion, will be good to set? Currnetly i have X=6 Y=5, bofore i had X=5 Y=3 or sometimes 2 :O and I can change sensivity on-the-fly :D so I change it in game :P. (sorry, maybe offtopic but it concern skills contained in this topic)

Nypel, as said above (in link) :

mouse sentsitivity depend on your mouse quality, its dpi, the usb poll rate, your screen resolution, the quality of your mousepad if you have one, so mouse sensitivity really can't be compared to other.

The important thing is that YOU find a good sensitivity for YOUr hardware. That's all.

No one can say you what's the best mouse config, you need to find it alone.

Another good thing is to make a barrier for your fps. FPS is very important and if it's under 20 it's very hard to play. So if your FPS can go over 50 and it never goes under 20 then try to make a barrier at 30 or 35. So it doesn't change and effect the gameplay and your reactions.

Code: Select all
/com_maxfps X
Because of a bug in the QuakeIII engine its possible to lock your FPS at a certain number.
Example: /com_maxfps 43 - /com_maxfps 76 - /com_maxfps 125 - /com_maxfps 333
