Hosting an ET server

Could it be possible to host a ETserver on a Webhosting package?
My idea is to rent an internet hosting package with a 3gig of space (what seems more then enough for me) and unlimited date transfer. The system is bases on linux and I think I'm able to connect with putty etc. to launch the server...
I could use some feedback from Linux users and people who already tried this..
Is it possible or not?

To connect to your webhosted host via putty it must sign in hosting SSH ACCESS ^^ ..um that if its possible to make gameserver on webhosting i dont now ^^
