Help, fps prob!

i recently have had some strange fps drops in game, like they keep dropping til shutdown. it cant be my graphics card, because its brand new (NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT), drivers updated, comp is cool inside. any idea what could cause that or how to repair it?

Same happened to me since few days, fps are jumping crazy but moslty
I have like 20 - 30 ( with my computer is a big joke -.- ) alot of lags, movements ( dont even ask ) . . . before I had around 200+

Since I got new compter I used to play with the highest quality, I had lags
hardly ever, also at big maps like venice even minas tirith.

From start I thought it became cause of nq 1.2.0 but dunno.
I think it has started 1 day before nq upgraded to new version.

I remember one day ( not sure but friday? ) pb was kicking mealot of times, reason: missing/corupted Windows API Function [131145] There is not much about it in net, I found at pbbalance or pbbans suggestion to update video card drivers/pb and run antivir. Much players have got this problem lately.

Btw, Im Vista user.

Im going to reisntal et tomorrow and some otehr program, run antivir, clean my hdd ( alot of useless and stupid stuffs ).
At last I gotta update drivers, instal et and update pb. I hope it will work otherwise dunno . . .

I will try to find more info in google.

Lurtz does your pc run on 2 cores? This is a known problem with Vista in combination with ET.

Set the affinity for ET.exe to 1 core only;

In the Processor Affinity options select 1 cpu;

i have XP not vista and i discovered that my processor fan wasnt moving as it should be so i got new one and i hope that its fine now.

Refusal access.

Unless I play I cant find et.exe

I know about that (to work on one core) since years, when i found it myself (on WinXP and Win2003). To know if it is not a problem check how much processor is in use. For 2 cores et.exe should use ~48-50% of processor, in 4 cores (~25%). Run game and wait since your are will not be on map as spectator. Open task manager, enable only 1 core, You can also put et.exe process on higher priority and observe the FPS count. It should jump twice, sometimes more. Then enable rest cores and FPS will jump a little more (+10~20 FPS). Waiting time is max 20s, mostly not more then 5s-7s. It is possible that that moves can't help, but the use of processor is still lower then 48% (sometimes ~40-42%, but i spot that could be also about ~30% - for 2 core processor). You can close browser (it helps me) or just restart Enemy Territory and do that steps again or just /connect to other server with enabled only 1 core.

I bought this computer in November. It hasnt been a problem for 7 months before.
It couldnt change cause of nothing from day to day.
I suppose virus or broken card, I will see.

Anyway, thanks guys for your help. I will try do it later.
Now I reinstaled et and some other programs. Gotta also clean, remove
alot of useless stuffs on my computer. At last update video card drivers.

you cant change prozessor settings on vista when you have a opperator account (benutzerkonto steuerung) on.

its for more safe the os but i put it off and i can change it. (but dont help :wink:

)

-> update grafik card

control settings for the connect

try to disable in game dynamic lights (it drop my fps from 250 to 50!!!!!!)

and look on your grafik card pogram for manually settings.

i have the 8800 gtx with q6600 @ 3 ghz

Yes, it helps but he wrote that fps are going down after this operation

I have ( had -.-' ) 200-300 fps, sometimes more.

Nivida Geforce 6200 TurboCache ? 256 mb ?
My FPS is about 40 - 70 on all maps....Same card
Maybe just my Processor
