mouse problem

Hi all, first of all my apologies if I misplaced this topic, but I couldn't find a more appropriate place.

Since a few weeks, I have some problems with my mouse. Whenever I click it once, it often thinks I clicked twice. Annoying, if you want to change settings, play a game, change website, hit the submit button, etc.

I have not yet tried to open my mouse up, because I am a complete noob when it comes to hardware, and Im kinda scared Ill ruin my mouse

I was kind of hoping you guys could help me out. I tried googling around, but no one else seems to have this kind of problem.

So... can anyone help me in fixing this please?

P.S. The mouse is a Logitech B110, a really simple plain mouse, but its good enough for me

There can be only 3 reasons:

1.Your mouse settings have been changed manually or by another program, to send a multiple clicks when you do single click. Check your settings to be sure about.

2. Your mouse drivers have been damaged. Check your drivers and update them.

3. Your mouse is dead :wink:

. You will have to open the animal and clean it up, your last resort. If you do it scrupulously, it wont be any problem imo.

Did you tried another mouse on your PC? best way to know if the issue is from a hardware problem or software one.

1. No, because it does not happen all the time, but often.
2. Could be, but I don't know how to do it

3. I'm afraid of that too, there is a computer shop near to my place so I might give it a try.

And yes, I use it on laptop and with the touchpad there is no problem. So I'm pretty sure the mouse is the problem.

EDIT: What I forgot to mention. It happens only with the left mouse button, the right mouse button and the scroll wheel work just fine.

Strange thing is that this mouse is the exact same as the ones my classmates have, we all got the same mouse at the start of the year but I have not heard anyone else complain. I'll ask around ^^

Well, guess the best solution is indeed to consult a repairman. But if ever you want to clean your mouse by your own here you have a guide to clean a Razer mouse having same double click probelm than yours. The internal mechanism is probably pretty same than your logitech mouse. Clean up your connectors to remove dusts and dirtiness and check if it will help.

Well, as i said before, i'm thinking like a businessman, which means that it's simply not worthwhile to get repaired. Why not ? His mouse is probably older then 2 years, because if not, he would make use of his warranty claim. So he used his "cheap" mouse more then 2 years each day. His mouse has done his job in my opinion and he's got a good reason to buy a new one which is working fine without any problems.

Anyhow, good luck with your repair, i would never invest hours of hours for such a cheap product - my little point of view

the mouse is less then a year old, I received it in August 2010 along with my laptop. I will probably go to the university repair shop first, because they might be able to fix it cheaper (since I got it from them).

That driver update also did not solve the problem. So, thanks for all the help, I will go after it and hopefully it will work well again soon =)
