callvote nextmap level up
Yo,
As many players notices this cmd is used to skip sux maps in our rotation, but many Times players skipping good map to play Glodrush 1000 Times it's begin be boring. why we make rotations? adding new maps ? players can skip all maps to plays Glodrush or smth standard 1001 Times. rotation have no sense with this cmd.
when i read chat many ppl typing next, do nextmap and poor candidate did it.
if it is raised members may be better to keep distance to this cmd. yeah someone say: but when U do cmd nexmap U have a poll. yes sure but many ppl don't read what poll is about or they don't know what is next so they press F1. I also read in the chat who said: so if many maps are skipped to playin Goldrush provides about that rotation is bad. it's not true ppl saying that cause they are lazy to discover new maps. If they plays 5 times this new map they will might like it and our good map list will grow up.

Well, I tried to initiate current rotation being modificated before but not much had happened.
Sidor, nothing more to add, totally agree with you. I am awaiting major changes for rotation as well - good, playable and objective maps would be very well seen.

For every member and candidate, the command is meant for the case that there are not so many players online. Do not use it if the server is quite crowded, f.e. around 20 players. There are people enjoying those skipped maps and I don't want to have only a few maps played at the server.
If I mention incorrect use, than I will change the command so that it cannot be executed if there are many people online.

We have discussed about it a while ago. The reason that we don't want to have the same maps over and over played.
No system we use or develop will ever be perfect, but our current system: rotation with a switching system between small and large maps depending on the amount of players and a callvote nextmap in the case of a few players so they can skip the maps they want. It is not perfect, but better than having a complete static rotation, or map voting, at least in my opinion.

Ppl can vote for their fav maps on forum by typing name of maps to next rotation
it's better than changing rotation to date by vote system. rotation will be changed after 2 weeks to new one choosed by players on forum.

This wouldn't happen if you set the map age as long as there are maps. And anyway if players are capable to vote to nextmap to play all over again Goldrush, doesn't that bring the same problem. Yes. Voting for maps is better than a rotation by that, you do not have to wait for a long time a map you played. With map age it is easy to control the behaviour of the map pool. There was never any idea in that nextmap voting, so much misuse.

Well at least at PS#3 this didnt work. For some reason NQ couldnt count mapage for all maps, and it ended up like goldrush being played about 40-60% of time. All settings were like NQ documentation said they should be, but after map change mapage file was untouched and goldrush was vote able

In my opinion not every player can make a proper decision about maps on PS#1. I believe we can get create a more satisfying ET experience by making a good rotation in comparison with map voting. Rotations allow us to try new released maps/good maps that are not known to everyone.
Give the rotation a chance and use the callvote wisely, only with a very good reason.

I bet there has been a typo if the min map age didn't work, because I have seen a working one. It works if it's right.

There is no good reason. Only reasons for nextmap voting are when a map is way too big compared to the number of players and when the map is bugged. Many times when I played with less than 20 players, someone voted for next map. I simply do not like that. If there is a map, shall it be played then. If you do not like the map, suggest it to be changed in the forums. It can't be so difficult.

Not that it would really matter anymore as PS#3 isnt for public nowadays, but...

Thats how they were on server, and as i can read that is how they are in NQ wiki, dunno then what went wrong if there has been some working configs. Of course it could has been something totally different bugging the system

as you dont wish the nextmap poll you can easyly stop the poll/vote
(when im remember right it works fine with nq!)
the problem is that most ppls dont want new maps because they didnt know them or thinking they sh*tty, but 100 times a day venice is better...
why dont give a try other maps?
on da it works fine (dont see this as advertise) they test new maps or maps who didnt played for years...when ppls like them the maps stay in rotation, when not they'r out this could fix the problem 2....

And rest like U said. Ppl don't know what is next because they don't use cmd !maps so often they are lazy to learn new map hiding spots so they want only play standard maps to get more frags. I understand their but we have to increase our listmap we can't be locked in a circle of standard map because it's become to be boring. I proposed the same at member forum but I want check what players think about this.

Compromise 14 maps in rotation
First half rotation: 7 maps
well known maps
Oasis, GoldRush, Paris Bastille, Minas Tirith etc. (maps which will be able in rotation always to keep players)
Second half rotation: rest 7 maps
Medium known maps: 4 maps
Monte Casino, Over The Top, WarBell etc. (played in our server few Times)
Bad known maps: 3 maps
Krakow Armada, Mitchell Down etc. (maps played never or once on our server, there are special slots for us to try new maps and recognize that players will like them)

I don't say that cmd callvote is bad or good this thread is about level up this cmd or how to make guide for candidates to use this cmd more carefully.
Skipping minas cause it's sux yes it's sux i said that because i think that (i don't like minas) but i'm on the half of the PS players who think the same but still exist the second half team who like minas and wont skip this map.
U should known that's not only U playing on the server and not only me. We must bear in mind all.

If vote passed doesn't mean that 51% of Ppl on server voted to yes.
This mean that x+1% voted to yes, x% voted to no but x+(x+1)<100% (don't know how to explain U this I'm mathematic guy). Just simple example
15 players online on server playing not spec

3 voted for yes
1 voted for no
11 players don't vote why ?(maybe they don't wont take a vote of this poll because they want to play or maybe they don't read that poll Etc., but U still don't know what they want. So we can't change map because 3 players of 15 want next.
So I beg U read the posts that someone else don't have to explain you what about this is (I recommend read egg's post first he explain all)

Ok, guys now I wanna say something regarding this topic. I strongly suggest to take away possibility of voting next map levels lower than 8 (although it will affect me). I'm really tired of skipping maps (like V2 Factory which I like) by some 7th lvl players instead of making post on forum in map suggestion topic· Really, 7th lvl players should know how to USE FORUM for that! And I'm only mention times that there where more than 10 active players on server.
Two suggestions:
1) remove possibility of next map voting for 7th lvl players
2) please be more careful with granting 7th lvl...
