I was playing on PS1 when i suddenly got kicked (without warning) for using akimbos as medic. I rechecked the rulebook and there is no such rule saying that its disallowed... Some explanation would be nice

I think it was Zombie who kicked me since he was the only PS members on the server (with tag) at that moment

Just got kicked second time for saying that it was bullshit that i got kicked...

Zombie told me he told it a few times over main chat that its not allowed. I checked my client log and indeed, he said once MEDICS WHO USE AKIMBO WILL BE KICKED. This doesnt mean he should just kick me after that since I didnt read it (proly was too busy shooting).

Anyhow. This rule is bullshit since server admins can restrict the use of an akimbo with the server settings. If this rule exists and isnt just the imagination of Zombie, it should be added to the rulebook OR should be restricted serverside. Not just by an admin who says it once in mainchat and then just kicks you.

As I said it is a server rule. Ok, you don't respect rules. Your choise, but if you break them you know there are consequences. The last weeks there is multiple times said it isnt allowed.

a) You got (global) warn.
b) Server rule

This rule is bullshit since server admins can restrict the use of an akimbo with the server settings.

That is your view about it, you're just pissed you got kicked because of nothing (in your eyes).

If this rule exists and isnt just the imagination of Zombie, it should be added to the rulebook OR should be restricted serverside.

Why should I imagine it? I said if you've any problems with it ask bowdown for further information.

This doesnt mean he should just kick me after that since I didnt read it (proly was too busy shooting).

It is said multiple times. Maybe not by me but my someone else. If not, I can't do anything about it.

server is setted for only one akimbo for medic , u probably type cmd for add second one , anyway this rule about pistols are not for whole PS community but for PS1 (and maybe other ps serv , idk) , so u havent been kicked immediatly but maybe Zomb move was lil overreacted too , but anyway , this seerv has plenty rules and reduce akimbos for medic is one of them so players who play here must follow rules if they like it or not.
However u have clear answer - on PS1 MEDIC CAN USE ONLY ONE AKIMBO.

Just to point something : Sometimes, you (as medic) spawn with akimbo, even if its disabled for medic- It's a bug and happen sometimes (quite often ?)

Second point : as a regular PS1 player (even if I don't play a lot these weeks.. ), i never heard about "akimbo forbidden for medic" as a ps1 server rule (is it new?). Medics spawn (if no bugs) with only one pistol, I don't see the point to disallow the pick up of any weapon on the ground.. Medic with panza need to be kicked, too ? :roll:

Ehm, no. I don't want so say I'm the same as bowdown but he kicks aswell people if they break this rule.

but for couple weeks medic and other classes can pick up only smg,rifles, panzer etc. not akimbos so if u want double akimbos as a medic u need to write something in console :P

Dont make up these void rules but configure the server so medics can only use 1 pistol!

You can't choose it via Limbo menu, anyway you'll see it but if you select Akimb you'll spawn with only 1 pistol. If you type /class * 1 you'll have akimbo. At the * a character has to be filled in.

Hum... no. As I wrote above, there is a bug. Some players know about it (me, funner ?), but I think nobody know how it happen. Just play and see : sometime, you spawn with akimbo as medic.

EDIT :

If you type ***** you'll have akimbo. At the * a character has to be filled in.


Oh, so I see. I use a team/class/weapon changer script (so I never need to use the Limb menu), I know that funner use one too. But sometimes, I have only one pistol, sometime akimbo.

I always use my class selector, but the funny thing is that my class selector is made in a way that it should pick 1 pistol instead of 2 (I wrote the script for etpro scrims).

As i said before: I searched my logs for warnings about this, and i found one (2 mintues before i got kicked). You cant expect every player to just read all global chat.

Its not a bug its a server setting, the server allows every class to pick up (and use) every weapon available. secondary weapons aren't dropped on dead bodies but they can still be accessed since jp_insanity overrules all these settings.

It's NQ design.

this is all about respect the rules? maybe it is a good idea for everyone who has such a bug to say it on the forum or Pm a ps member. because it is in case of an accident not your fault.

Exatly Spyhawk. Im not sure, but if you use class switch via config you'll get (somestimes?!) akimbos.
But anyway i never heared about that "rule".
Sometimes im playing to with akimbos first, cause i dont noticed that i have single pistol. Then i switch normally to single pistol via limbo menu.

then it looks me obvious it isn't allowed if you see that you only have one akimo.

first you shall ask why this is and you don't type directly an command for it.

second i know flms is a regular player just like me and i think the last few weeks everyone knows that it isn't allowed.

third i know flms doesn't respect the rules because before zombie was online, flms sk allot.
and if i said it isn't allowed he just keep going :?

for Apy and for all, the server is well setted, it allow only one pistol for medics, the reason is already explained many times but the main goal is to make this class less powerful and more fair for other class. This last weeks , i noticed many medics with 2 pistols, the most "fuuny" was that those who complain about havin 2 pistols after usin the cmd :evil: . I knew well that they use a cmd to get both, and after some serious warns my doubts were confirmed. You think it s smart to use cmd to change server settings, i find it idiot and against server settings and also unfair for other players. I never noticed a bug and think it s just bullshits (or somebody have to show me the contrary), and you can t also pick up double gun, so it s clear the only way is to use this "famous" cmd. I will try disable this but since that i warned in numerous time that i will warn and kick those who use it to have double gun, and all of our regualrs are aware about this. This is a part of PS1 settings, we have many servers and each one have its singularity, if you don t like it you are free to change for another server but don't come with idiot cmds and change settings. I have no doubts that you were enough warned and anyway, you have to stop with this "rulebook" stories, the rulebook only give you major rules for all PS servers but each server can have some particular rules due to it s own settings etc ... . I m sure soon we have to add rules sayin you that you have to wash your teeths 3 times a day and use toilet papers when your in WC.

So once again , Don 't Use any cmd or script to change the server settings or you have to handle the consequences

First @ natte:

that screenie you posted is about not being allowed to use a panzer or flamthrower to rush a capturable spawn (with a flag). I rest my case that its a gay rule. The reason i said this was because you just did it... so dont go *beep* on me I spawnkill all the time. The spawnkill rules the way I heard them a 100 times is that you cant spawnkill in the room where the enemy spawns. In Venice this means you can kill in the 2 little halls @ AT gun.
BTW Ive only been playing @ PS1 for 4-5 days so dont tell me I should know about this, because admins are spamming this for weeks now. Also most of the other regulars have no clue that this rule exists.

2ndly @ Bowdown:

These arent scripts made aspecially to get a way around the server settings. Ive been using these class/spawn/etc... selectors for ages now.
The fact that as medic you can use a panzer or MG42 or any weapon of that kind is way more unfair than trying to defend yourself with an akimbo pistols after you ran out your 60 rounds of SMG (which is quite fast since you need around 10 hits to kill an enemy

Roflll :lol: they arent changing the server settings cause its already enabled..
(please read my post above again)

You say you want to make medics less powerfull, yet you allow every class to pick-up and use all available weapons, including grenade launchers, panzers etc.

But if you think panzer medics are less powerful than medics using akimbo's be my guest.

No you play more then 4-5 days on PS1. At least more then 1,5 week.

ape it isn't that, it is to prevend medics to become rambo medics so they can shoot their thompson and mp40 an direct after it their akimo's on 5 people.

with a panzer or smg you cant become a rambo medic. because you have only one akimo left of you have shot with your panzer and a akimo agianst a thompson you normally lose:P

2nd flms i thought if you want to capture the spawn you can defend yourself with a panzer if someone out of the spawn shoot on you.
i didnet shoot in it :cry: i learnt my lessen with that :P.
in venice you did sk you see when the come out of the spawn by the piano and you shoot them i think thats sk don't know it for sure.
and my screenshot remembers me how you think about the rules 8)

Where did i say that the settings suck? (although i never liked the 'all weapons pickup' fun setting in general)

I said you shouldnt use a rule that wont allow medics to use akimbos when all weapons are free for every class to use, including akimbos.
