site bug?

Postby deep » Wed Jun 17, 2009 11:26

hi, i think im the only one with this prob, but its bit annoying. recently i changed my win appearance settings, dunno if its the cause.. .when i connect here, all the text and images (banner, sigs etc.) r reduced in size by some %. also the main page is slow and laggy when i scroll down, and the shoutbox is very slow(1 fps).

so as i thought it happened cause of the recent settings change, i changed it back, but it still is buggy for me.

btw other php-nuke sites r fine.

ctrl + 0 will fix the problem in FireFox. Not sure if that is the same in IE / Chrome / Safari.

About the 'lag' problem, no idea. Probably your pc which is slow or your memory (RAM) is small. I had this problem too when I had a Pentium 4 + 512mb RAM (3 years ago).

probally because of slom RAM because the normal speed of my comp is very good (2.6 Ghz) so i don't know but if someone knows the awnser that would be very nice. :)

[offtopic]2.6 GHz doesnt say that much. An Pentium 4 2.66 GHz is slower then an Intel Core 2 Duo E4300 @ 1.86 GHz (just an example, but it's faster). I have got a 3.0GHz CPU and I dont encounter any lags at the website. But as I said the CPU speed isnt that important.[/offtopic]

Well the shoutbox is quite a heavy module, the javascript it uses is not very optimized.

Also the rendering of javascript is very browser and cpu dependant. A browser like Opera (or Chrome) uses a far better javascript engine than for instance IE and Firefox (the upcoming FF 3.5 will incorporate a brand new javascript engine though).

Yeah, scaled images don't render that quick while scrolling ;)

Anyway, this one seems to be solved so..
