Today's riddle ;)
Today's riddle ;)
This post is primary for Mordlust, but i thought i might as well give all of you the little challange, if anyone is up to it of course . The idea of this simply to annoy you, and also giving you little challenge.
The following riddle was given to me by one of my teachers at my previous school, but i have kept hold of it since then. Anyway here it goes:
" If a third of six is three, then what would the half of twenty be?"
I encourage you to try work this one out by yourself, don't cheat by using google or anything similar to look it up Im not sure if the riddle exists in english too ( as i've simply translated from norwegian), but never the less, don't look it up.
If anyone is up to the concept, i guess i could try getting some more "hard nuts to crack" every now and then. Some may have options to chose from.
Good luck!

Any number you wish, as you can probably find infinite ammount of right answers to this one, as there can be infinite ammount of answers how third of six can be three.
Althou if 15 is real answer:
3 * 3 = 9 (= 6)
9/6 = 3/2 (So every number is actually this many times bigger)
20 * 3/2 = 30 (= 20)
30 / 2 = 15
Althou if 15 is real answer:
3 * 3 = 9 (= 6)
9/6 = 3/2 (So every number is actually this many times bigger)
20 * 3/2 = 30 (= 20)
30 / 2 = 15
Uhh nice, I got a riddle
You are standing in a room and there is a light bulb hanging over your head and it is turned off. Outside the room there are 3 switches and you have to figure out which one turns the light on and off.
You can only go outside ONCE and then back again. You can NOT see the room when using the switches, hence that would be too easy

You say: "Great Shot!"
I say: "aimbot"

ok so... (sry for english =\)
you turn on switch number 1 and you wait about 10 minutes and you turn the switch off.
you turn on switch number 2 and you go to starting room if the light is on it's switch number 2 if it's not you need to touch the lamp.. if it's warm it's switch number 1 if it's cold it must be switch number 3 =]

sorry for my english. If you don't understand me i'm sorry =[
Correct!
You are all correct, 15 is the answer.
This is how I solved it:
6/3 = 3
As im sure On1 saw, there's definitely something wrong with the equation. that means that one will have to add a 'x' to the left side in order to balance it, (since in our world, 6/3 is two and not three.)
Like this :
2x=3
you instantly see that this means that x= 3/2
Next:
20/2 = ?
10 = ?
We expect that the 'x'-relation will aplly for this one as well. That means that
10*x = 10*(3/2)=30/2= 15
Also as Jolly said, one can just use logic as well to solve it. "What would i need to increase 2 with to get 3?" an increase of 50% would do. If one applies this to the number 10, one also gets 15
Seems people here have got some brains after all Good work

Here's another one:
You have a large cag of beer (uknown volume) for some reason you need to measure out just one liter.
How do you do this if you only have a three-liter container and a five-liter container?
And one specially delivered for Goku without any maths
Mom and Dad have four daughters, and each daughter has one brother. All grand parents have passed away. How many people are there in the family?

7?
FALSE! it's TEN 10! whee
For the other one, you fill the 5 liter one, with what's in the 5 one in the 3 one, what's rest in the 5 one is 2 liters, and you take the half of it.. (can't explain very well.. (o: )
ok i got the answer =DDD soo..
three-liter container will be "A" and a five-liter container will be "B" =]
here is solution step by step:
1. A- empty B-full
2. 3 liters from B goes to A so we have................. A-3liters B-2liters
3. pour 3 liters from A and now its empty............. B - still 2 liters
4. 2 liters from B goes to A............. A-2liters B-0liters
5. now B need to be full so it's ............A-2liters B-5liters
6. one liter to A .................A-3liters B-4liters
7. pour 3 liters from A and it's empty now.............A-0liters B-4liters
8. 3 liters from B goes to A................A-3liters B-1liter =D
three-liter container will be "A" and a five-liter container will be "B" =]

4) Fill five litre canister to full, you have 1 litre in 3 litre canister
Not if its halogen lamp :D
But yea, I think thats the way too :)

you cant know how many people are in family, because no one told us about dog, aunt, uncle, niece, nephew... etc
Then, it is the question if mom and dad had all children together, or from a different marriage.
But it should be somewhere between 7 and 10 in each case
About the beer problem: How can you know what is half? So that is not possible, someone said smth like: Fill 3 litre thing. Put it in 5 litre thing. Fill 3 litre thing again. Put all you can in 5 liter and then whats left in 3 litre thing is exactly one litre
I have one too:
the number 0,99999999999.... (infinite 9s here) is:
a) smaller then 1
b) = 1
c) bigger then 1
And another one:
A golf player has to put the ball in the hole. He measured the distance from the ball to the hole and it was exactly 20 metres. The golf player wants to put the ball in the hole in as little strikes as possible. He has only one problem: He can only hit 3, 5, 7 and 11 metres far! How many strikes does the golf player need at least to put the ball in the hole?

a and kinda b too
1/3 = 0,33333333333333...(infinite 3s here)
0,333333333333...(infinite 3s here)*3 = 0,99999999999...(infinite 9s here)
ye i know this aint maybe by all rules of 'art'
but well... who really cares
thx for diamond
