Well im a bit dumb in that area but imo the higher the number the better it is ;)

Since i had nothing better to do though, i quick searched Windows site and it says that a 64 version just makes things like switching between processes and stuff a little quicker, therefore being able to use the RAM better and not having to acces the Hard disk all the time and so your computer will be quicker when you have the 64 bit version.

But i think (not sure) in order to have a good working 64-bit version, you also need the RAM thats high enough and a large enough HDD to cope with it.

What effect it has on playing games i dno, I think the 64 bit version will naturally work a little smoother then the 32 bit version (depending on your RAM, HDD and Video card)

EDIT:
A little more quick searching found me this:

Your computer needs a 64-bit processor in order to use the 64-bit Version. Also you need a minimal RAM of 4gig. (not sure if it works with less, just telling you what it says on the site)
Keep in mind though that every Hardware you got on your computer needs 64-bit version drivers to be installed. Otherwise it may malfunction.

2nd: The 64-bit version only really helps if you have a program or game that actually requires an 64-bit computer. So if you need it for ET only (doubt it) you are cool with an 32 bit version. If you want to play more complex games like COD, Battlefield, Portal, Tetris then you could better get an 64-bit version.

And now ive searched enough for you and gonna spend some me-time ^^

if you have >4 GB ram and you will need to use 64-bit programs, go for the 64 bit windows

if you have <4 GB ram and you won't use 64 bit programs, go for the 32 bit

and you need a processor that can run it ofc

posting your pc specs would help

(the only advantage for gaming is that you can use more than 4 GB RAM, so if you are just playing ET that would be a bit overkill)

There is only one answer and it is 64-bit. It is faster than 32-bit and that is easily noticeable.

For real it doesn't matter which version of Windows 7 you have if you think about gaming but I prefer 64-bit to 32-bit.

You can easily take 64-bit version i think

Your PC specs more then good enough to run it when i take a quick look.

So if i were you i'd go for the 64-bit version

Enjoy:)

PS: what version (windows and bit) do you run now tbh?

I too would like to know what OS you got now because you got 6GB ram and 32 bit operating systems are capped at 3.6 GB

Go for 64 bit since that would make that extra 2 GB ram useful :p

If You think it's the only one adventage of 64-bit OS...

Not true.

Guys, forgot about 32-bit OS. Only 64 atm. Hopey 128 will come much faster. Hope they won't make it and move for 256bit ^^

And Windows 8 too (those are rumors). IMO they should skip 128 dor 256 ;-)
