ET: Legacy - Something new
Hi,
are you aware about this http://www.etlegacy.com/
Something for PS perhaps ^^. I already test it, it works, you can connect ps server or any other easily. Should be faster and lower ping. Legacy servers doesn't excist yet I think...

Just wanted to let you guys know that version 2.71 has been released and is awesome. Basically Legacy is a new platform for Enemy Territory you install it all and run it instead of Enemy Territory, The Dev team is led by Radegast and he and his team have done an amazing job. I think people thought it was just a mod, but I have to say having now run it for a few weeks its awesome. Uprated Graphics and sound and a built in minimiser our guys have found it has also improved their ping.. You can download it here

And for those who need a little help installing i made a visual tutorial on our website you can find it here....

any questions feel free to ask!
EDIT: I cant find any difference between ET and ETL in gameplay, or i'm doing something wrong xD
Cheers

ET:L is simply a fixed version of ET. Less bugs, so much more of code clean up, new features. In gameplay there is actually no difference as not meant to be. They try to keep it as original as possible. Actually feels so nice that you do not have to worry about some silly bugs like the one when reconnecting after you have disconnected won't kick you form the server anymore with the error. There's a lot to do still but compared to 2.60b it is an incredible add for any server.

The RC2 of ET:LEgacy 2.71 has been tagged last week.
As a reminder, ET:Legacy is both an update to the W:ET engine *and* a new mod. It is backward compatible, so you can use it and still connect to standard 2.60b servers and your favorite mod (the only downside being PunkBuster that is not included).

The rc2 release has eventually be skipped, but here is the shiny new ET:Legacy 2.71rc3!
Windows binaries are available, Mac and Linux following soon!.
For more information, see the changelog.

Yes, looks great. But it still uses 32bit libs and I just can't force my linux to use them properly...

BigOgr> It's possible to compile ET:Legacy in 64bits only, but the 32bits version is required to connect to 2.60b servers (which are still in 32 bits too).
You can ask support for install in the ET:L forums.

Re: ET: Legacy - Something new
omg Omg OMG!
Thats really cool news! Hope I'll manage to install it, because I had problems with compiling ET:L 2.71RC4 and currently I'm playing on RC3 (compiled on my previous system ). I'll check it out asap!
GJ guy, keep up good work!

If you need help with compiling, you can still ask on the official forums or the IRC channel - we'll try to help you out.
The current 2.71 release has some issue with some old Linux distributions, you can expect a new 2.71.1 release very soon.
Enjoy!

Re: ET: Legacy - Something new
Hell yeah! I can finally minimize my ET without any problems and by just one windows button! Woo!
Re: ET: Legacy - Something new
2.72 version totally messed my ETlegacy up, mouse didnt work, whole system freezes.. wisely, i copied my etl folders to safe for backup before updating.
My old version was 2.71rc1 or something, and surprisingly i cant find those earlier versions on any website anymore??
So, if something goes wrong, downgrading ain't work if you had not copy your old ET legacy folders somewhere...
Well, now my ETL works fine with old version again

Re: ET: Legacy - Something new
Don't overwrite old installation of ET:L with the new one - do a clean install. Also, using your W:ET config isn't recommend - some people reported issues when doing so.
Also, 2.71rc1? That's so obsolete that I really wouldn't recommend using that
