Whenever I open ET (which is CPU demanding), my computer crashes.

Strange. You sure that your graphics card is running when playing ET? Not sure what computer you uses, but normally there are two graphics card. One powerful and one that is built-in in the cpu... so if you say your cpu is overheating when playing ET... perhaps its because the powerful graphic cards doesnt get run.

Nah it's most likely because I haven't reapplied thermal paste between the CPU and the fan above in over 5 years.
Because it's using my graphics card and not the integrated one in the CPU ... Can't really think of anything else.

It isn't only when I play ET, it'll happen just using my computer for a few hours.
