eyh? I think U didnt get this or?
The .conf above is my xorg.conf, that I used BEFORE kernel. Worked just fine. then the kernel came and it didnt work anymore. As I realized my xorg wont work, I made a .backup of xorg and deleted the real xorg.conf
now U suggest me to enable it again so I must delete it again coz it wont work.

you ever tried:
if you don't know an answer in the wizard just press enter. when you get to the driver section select "nvidia". it will write changes to your xorg.conf and make a backup of your old one. try that and post your new xorg.conf and logs here if you don't get your X back. lets start from scratch.
i'm a bit confused as to what's going on here - do you actually have an xorg.conf atm? just run above cmd and it should generate one. if not rename/copy your backup to xorg.conf (like in spyhawk's post) and then run above command.
also, can you tell us what model nvidia card you have?
- Code: Select all
sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg

Yes I tried that xorg-reconfig xserver-xorg. No use either.
But I decided to move some files to windows via LAN and reinstall the whole thing. I dont mind loading sum stuff again or tuning sum stuff. I try again when next kernel comes. maybe its just a bug in it.

Hmmm, maybe you should check the Ubuntu forums once again, I know they have good support, docs, faqs and manuals (for sure PL community). Reinstalling os is a way to resolve problems, but what when after reinstalling and upgrading kernel you will have the same problem? Really you should try to look for resolving first, even at the cost of few hours in google...

Well I would have to see your pengun to help you, cause I cannot tell you exactly, what you should do. And I bet I have different soft installed. But try to read this and this. Believe me, finding solutions when working on linux is much more better than reinstalling the system. And if you have no X-server working properly, try to work in console, lynx and links are really powerful and are more than enough to look for suggestions in www. Good luck
