keys get stuck during play

Ok so I connect to a server and every few minutes (at random times really) my keys/mouse movement gets stuck - the char keeps going in the same direction I was going or keeps firing for 5-6 seconds (without me using those keys obviously). It gets annoying during a battle or when I walk on top of buildings with the danger of falling

It think it might have something to do with the new punkbuster files (no surprise there, its meant to fix vista why the hell they force XP users to use it too :evil:

). Is there any solution to this?

EDIT: I have tried reinstalling ET and PB (fully updated) but that didnt seem to fix it.

Well there is possibility that its not ur fault. I experienced something like that and it was coz one player had illegal ASCII in his name. If he spoke player started shooting and got stuck. So if U see somwthing like this try look player that may cause it and report to admin to rename/kick/ban him.

If its coz vista I dont know at all.

I'm using XP, not vista and I dont think its a player causing it but I'll keep my eyes open.

could be 2 things
a namehack like goldy said
or xfire
i had it and some things didnt work
but this is opposite so i think with 90% that it's a namehack

Not using xfire either. I'm using the All Seeing Eye from yahoo to connect to the server and I turn it off after game launches.

I do get this sometimes, what mouse and keyboard are you using? If its bluetooth check your connection and if its low battery check those because sometimes your bluetooth connection can get interrupted somehow (too far away, low battery) and it repeats its previous keys until a connection is reastablished, so when I forget to replace my batteries, i end up strafing and shooting randomly..

I use a Logitech MX 1000? Mouse and keyboard set, if its the same/simialar check these, to fix this problem, I keep a set of fully rechared batteries near my PC, and i have a USB extention cable for the bluetooth dongle, and i place it literally in front of my mouse and keyboard.
Hope it helps and if you dont have a wireless or even battery powered mouse and keyboard sorry for wasting your time!

Both the mouse (generic) and the keyboard (also generic) are wire connected to the pc; the mouse uses a PS2 port while the keyboard is using a USB connection
