WTH? - SK, SC, TK, TB Increasing*

Postby Scit257 » Tue Nov 27, 2007 1:44

Guys,

I am so pissed by now that I had to open a topic to get your opinions.

I can´t relly play any more without getting angry(I am reacting usually very calm). Maybe you already read in game what i write and I am really sorry for my language but as there are so many idiots around I have to tell them that I am pissed off!!! WHAT THE F*** HAPPENED????

I see more SK(airstrike/Heavy Weapons), TB and TK than ever before. own teammates running over mines and so on...! No sorry after a TK, medics dont revive any more (not all of ´em). Teambleeding up to 3/4 HP without saying sorry! Same player pushing me down a cliff 2 times in a row saying sorry, but my friend their is NO REASON tu use the push option near a cliff where your teammates are!!!!

Further:

"DEAR MG from this afternoon, NO its not a good idea to shoot from a spot in the back into the tunnel where 4-7 guys are running through!!!! " Specing him I found out he gave about 2/5 team damage and 3/5 damage to enemy--->this cant be. play the Sims or some like that!

I don´t know if you got the same problems but as I play now for quite a long time on this servers and often very late I cant help but to say that it somehow worsen a lot. Is it cause there are so many noobs on this server...I dont know.

I am not saying that I am perfect. I am playing sometimes very shitty too but I still try to win the map with my team. Thats what I always liked on this servers!

Please tell your opinions and maybe you´ve got ideas how to get the servers as friendly and funny as they were back in the days.

Sincerly Yours

Yeah I also noticed many tk/tb last times... Maybe more than usual. For my part (and I know most of admins/members/players do the same) I always try to learn players some basic rules :

- say sorry after a tk/big tb
- no tb at respawn (I saw actually more and more players firing their team mates when they respawn, really don't know why it happens more than before :?)
- no tk/tb on purpose (of course :P)

Anyhow, their always some newbies coming on the servers... And it's pretty normal for them to do such mistakes when they start playing ET. Some learn quick, for some others it's a bit longer... But at last, normal players will understand.

Be sure that members/admins try and will always try to help newbies learning the rules. Of course, abusers (massive tk'ers/tk'ers on purpose) are punished as far as we can (cause we're not always specing players in order to search rulebreakers !! sometimes we also play )

Anyway, it's true that tk/tb are more frequent these times and I'll be more vigilant about this since now (and i'm sure that i'm speaking for all of our members/admins :)). Just a few time is needed to learn newbies basics rules and to warn/kick/ban peristant tk'ers on purpose. And fun will soon be back

PS : anyway, don't be afraid to use the !rulebook command when you see to much tk/tb or just pm ps members/admins when they are here about some tk/b problems ( by using /m |ps| message )

ya, our players attract many people - also some newbies.
but thats no problem at all if these newbies are willing to learn ...

so we dont immediately kick a player because he made 5 teamkills - besides he did it on porpuse (like standing at own spawn with flamer and celebrating barbecue)
ofcourse its frustrating if you are in a cave (like in oasis, the caves with the waterpump) and the mg42 behind you gives you some new holes :P

btw: more players => more teamkill and because PS1 is getting crowded - allmost overcrowded - you will have to deal with some more teamkillers ... if you get realy bored because there are too many teamkills, than visit for some maps an other, not crowded server ... like PS5 :P

..Or PS#4 :D Bots never TB xD

ontopic:
Yea its annoying. got TKed like heck many times but almost everytime coz my own stupidity -_- If U see a friendly MG in narrow gap and U know that enemy will come soon, do u run in the fireline and think "he wont shoot his own" pretty lousy thinking. ofc he mowns U down at any moment! Otherwise he will get killed if U die. but I doupt they TB U only coz U stand at the rear of spawn. Im paranoi myself and sometimes miss shot few bullets by reflex to teammates. Yet, its very inportant to say at least Oops if U do so.

about pushing and Sk . Pushing is really getting annoying. Every spawn same thing. I should gib people who push! And rifle nades to spawn isnt SK... its like freaking panzer or even worse! Think its still only way to capture spawn these days :/

About newbs. can get bit frustrating to say newb to get urself other weapon. But they will learn... after few some (hundreds) of misshots and TKs. Dont yell at them. Gentle notice to change weapon can work. I bet U have shot few of ur own when U started ET :P

And finally: like soul said, If U have any problems with people who TK U or so, just PM to admins/members and we try handle it :)

    *Little Topictitle change

But where does this happen, i cant imagine that its like this on all servers?
Soul and Golden already said it but please contact admins about it when you spot something like this.

You are a regular player on our servers and are part of this community as well, so every help would be appreciated. As long as we (as honourable players) create 1 front against rulebreakers they will learn or be kicked sooner or later :)

Well its sometimes @ ps2 as i spotted,

Yes, ive seen more tbers/tkers lately and more skers also, i think we should act more harder to ppl who rulebreak, offcc, ppl who are new on the server dont know the rules really so first always !warn or do a global warn but enough is enough and a !kick mostly gets their attention.

Some ppl tb yes, but with ff thats just something you need to handle, sometimes when someone comes around the corner and hes a teammate i sometimes accidently put some holes in him but thats just reflex, i say sorry and if im medic i give him a few medpacks to fix him :)

Spawnkilling i dont have much to say about, i normally do global warns about 'NO SPAWNKILLING' and stuff and that moslty scares of ppl, if someone does sk hes out and he can retry in 2 minutes :)

Its just a fase probably. Lately the risks for rulebreaking have increased a lot;

- High weapons active on more servers > more TK/TB
- More (unknown/new) custom maps > more SK/SC
- Popular servers > more people online (during the day)
- More people > chance of more newbies (simple math ;))

Server owners could change the friendlyfire settings to lower the risk of TK/TB (i already mentioned this in that riflenade topic).

And for the rest, explain and teach newcomers, report, warn and punish severe rulebreakers.
(and 'happy thoughts' of course ^^ )

About FF: is it somehow possible to make ur damage ½ to ur own and 100% to ur enemy Oo Just a wild question. Probably not. Would be neat thou :)

I have nothing more to add to my original post.

you mean to your teammate? ;)

Yes with No Quarter you can set it in a way that;
No Quarter wrote:- Friendly fire does only half damage to teammates (is sort of the same)
- Friendly fire does an equal amount of damage to the inflictor

Or use both, double fun for the TK'er ^^

While lowering same-team damage might work to our benefit (less dying from friendly fire), it will also work against us by giving rambo's the advantage (you rush the enemy lines at your own risk knowing you will probably get shot by both sides if you get in you'r teammate's line of fire / adrenalin medics will rush more into friendly nades, arty and the likes).
I recall there being an option to actually hurt oneself when hitting your teammates. That would be a more appropriate solution if you ask me

EDIT: warren got it before I did but my comment stands :P

i was on the server when this mg story happend which scit explained in his post. but after all, the tc_base map was fast over after i scit got teambleeded several times so i couldn't punish rly someone. also we have to see if we talk about teamkills on purpose or as accident. but i rly get what u talking about scit. i know u were always a decent and nice player so i was a bit shocked that u was pissed like that on the server but i get it too. i also think the riflenades / nades damage (mainly on ps #1 & ps #2) are a way too high and those days more and more players take this riflegun to get easy kills in tunnels and lot of other places. maybe it would already help to lock the rifle guns on a amount like 2-3 per team or sth like that. and i also noticed the support fire works quite too often, but its hard to find the balance i guess if 40 ppl are around and like 3-4 fieldops on every team want to use fire support too. next time i will try to figure out who got too much teamkills / teambleedings and punish them. just tell me names over PM scit and i can try to solve / help it a bit. but at all i agree, like some months ago it wasn't that much teambleeders, 'naabs' and teamkillers on purpose around. those will get her judgement earlyer or later for sure. u also know NQ is more this kind of gamestyle where teamkills happen a lot more then on etpro / etpub for example. i'm a bit sorry that i couldn't react against the teambleeders on the server, but i was playing myself and the map was just like over (tc_base). anyway, nice post and hope it will change something :)

My idea was that there has to be more control on the servers.

I always liked the "vote-option". For that we dont have 100 Votes a game only high level players(lvl 5++) or admins should be allowed to vote/start the vote. That brings responsibility to not-admins like me too, to watch the game! I feel sometimes really helpless and would be happy if I coul use !kick. Especially at night time. Maybe the option to !warn or !gib as a lvl 7 player would draw more attention to their mistakes. If I write a message in chat it can be seen maybe 3-5 secs and its very unlikely that the adressed player is just watching at this moment(i cant read everything e.g. being in a fight). But hardly someone can oversee a !warn!

With the Vote there is little "power to the people" and annoying players can be votet by the players on the server to get a 5-10-15-30.... minutes Timeout.

Dont know if you can make this ideas possible but I think it might help!

y i know what u mean, but i guess its not the best to add the vote system again. even some peoples with lvl 5+ don't know now still how they should act. if there is oneday / night rly no admin around, record a demo and send it to one of our high admins and we will watch it and judge about what to do. u also can try to catch admins on other servers or over msn / xfire / icq. we got there a contact list somewhere around. i trust u and i know u prolly won't abuse it, but others will do specially if no admins around. i was a lot times undercover last days and i see how people change / act if no admins are around, even regular and well known players. thats why the vote system won't work that well too imo.

If I had to record a demo any single time i would need more GB on my harddrive. That doesnt make sense.

bring on better ideas :P

Our main goal should be to educate the players in-game not a day later.

Well, suerly !kick and !gib commands shouldn't be added to players. Even new members don't have it.

But maybe we should think about voting system. Or maybe complain system as well. At night or at morning, i ve seen on server monitor, that ps1 got players. Mostly during this time there rly re no admins and members on. And, yea, it's a bit useless to record the demo at every single time.

Well done.

Like we say in germany:

That's why somone wise said once that stupidnes is worse evend than ignorance. Ignorant person touch the fire once and learn no to do it anymore, stupid person never learn it.
