Its not like there is some magical command that turns a 300 ping into a 30 ping
Some things you should ask yourself;
- am i downloading other things atm?
- are there other programs active on my pc that make connection to the web (msn, p2p programs, leechers etc)?
- are there other people in my network downloading stuff?
- did i change anything to my PC, OS, ET setup lately?
- have i checked for virusses, spyware/adware/malware?
- is my connection OK and working as it should be? check at; http://www.speedtest.net/

And what was causing your high ping?
Would be nice to share as it might be helpful for others as well

Hmm ke, but you know that timenudge only visually lowers your ping? In other words your ping just stays the same.
Its better to keep that setting at zero as it wont make little to non difference to your connection + it will probably make you warp in front of other players and you might notice that others are more difficult to hit.
