enemy territory patchs history...
In RTCW - Enemy Territory there are basically 4 different versions of the game. Here is a brief history.
ET 2.55 (Patch 1.01) - Release early in 2003 was the original mulitplayer game patch for Enemy Territory. Currently there are about 100 or so servers running on this patch of the game. It is buggy, fully of bots and hacks, and insecure both for SERVERS and for the CLIENTS (Client = You, the player). Several vulnerabilities with the Q3 Engine that runs the game expose bother servers and players to risk.
ET 2.56 (Patch 1.02) - Released later in 2003 this patch was designed to amend some of the previously mentioned security flaws. It failed to do so entirely. This is the patch the Revolution runs on. The CLIENT side is more protected and less glitchy than 2.55 but problems on the server side still exist. About 20 servers exist on this -hard to find- patch.
ET 2.60 (Patch 2.60) - A major upgrade in 2005 fixes alot of vulnerabilities and issues in the game, including a more stable server executable with vulnerabilities in the Q3 engine patched up.
ET 2.60b (Patch 2.60b) - In 2006 another minor patch, I'm unsure what this repaired but, it is the most up to date version. Servers apparently make no difference on 2.60 or 2.60b, total count somewhere around 800 give or take active servers on the patch.
hope this give you some information
