SP - Banned for Spawnpassing*

Postby Calabria » Fri Mar 14, 2008 19:03

i was banned for sp'ing =spawn passing 8O :D

this is a tactick that i regulary use; i'me a cvops, i steal someones clothing and then go to the enemy spawn. Then i follow the enemies untill they left their spawn area and i try to knife someone. This is also why i always have the "jack the ripper" award, which pissed some member off.

I did :rulebook dutch, and it said nothing about sp'ing...

It's fun, you should try it.

well... on server is short rule-overview....

i often tell on servers to check out detailed rules here on our site

http://www.prime-squadron.com/modules/rulebook/

Killing the enemy in his own Spawn (the players' starting locations) is NOT allowed and is considered Spawnkilling (SK), this includes; walking into enemy spawn, shooting into enemy spawn from a distance.

there u can see that walking through enemy spawn isnt allowed, its included in the common shortcut "sk"

Deliberately hanging around (also known as Camping) Enemy spawn and/or your own spawn is NOT allowed and is considered Spawncamping (SC)

also ur "waiting for enemy respawn" is explained in rulebook as forbidden
sometimes you lose - sometimes the others win

I thought SP is allowed if U just quickly get trough without shooting or nadeing
But what u do is forbidden imo. Its same as SC.

Hmm I talked with Warren abaut that and he tells that spawnpassing WITHOUT shooting is allowed. I was not sure for warning people for that so I pmed and Warren persuaded obstinate Timon that spawnpass is not rulebreaking as long as you don't shoot. Of course you should avoid it because eneimies will surley shoot to you so they make spawncamp.

I hope Warren doesn't mind. Here, some words of our Wise Ape

Walking into, is not; Walking through!
And Spawnkilling, as the name implies, talks about 'Killing',
when you are passing through spawn you are not actually killing are you?
Of course all this changes when you actually start shooting cause that indeed is SK
I dont know where it comes from that admins warn (and perhaps even kick for it?) but its not justified.

Hope the thing is clear now....

it's not clear at all

even ps members disagree so...

for example: on goldrush walking trough spawn to get to the gold, i do that often...

ye like u talk on goldrush map, I often as allies run into axis spawn to get gold but dont kill anyone and none waiting till respawn to kill someone after few seconds.
Anyway u CAN run into enemy spawn but dont kill anyone there and dont camp anyone from/in there.

It s true that there is not realy a line about spawn passing in rulebook and i hope it will be fixed soon cause im against it. It only cause problmes for admins and players imo, it s realy simple for me, if you pass the spawn and you are catched by enemies, you will more likely reply their fire, in this case it will be no more no less than a classic SK in my eyez and you have to handle the consequnencies, even if your first attention was only to pass the spawn i take like a provocation. SO are you ready to take this risk??

If you realy like knifing enemies, what s a need to follow them from the spawn inside? just wait for them in the out of their exit and i m sure it will also works too. Once again , if you do any mistake in the spawn, it will be your responabilty cause normaly you have nothin to do there.

What's the need? It's not a need, it's a tactic. But are you saying it's allowed or not? Cause all i can read out of your post is that you don't like it.

I only can be honest there, there is no real and writted rule about it in rulebook, that s the fact (we will probably add this rule soon). So the baner was wrong even if i m not agree with spawn passing. Btw , you are warned, since you enter the enemy spawn, you take serious risks if ever you do a mistake.

Anyway , i still don t know your baner, it could be also cool to see his point of view. The good think is that your ban was an occasion to open a discussion about. Btw, wait for his reply, hope he will reply fast :) .

@ Timon
Wasn't that a PM from half a year ago? :P

Anyway i still stand by what Timon posted above;
There is a significant difference between SK/SC & a quick spawnpass.

What you (Calabria) did is no 'Spawnpassing' its just Spawncamping;
- you wait outside enemy spawn and take advantage out of it by knifing enemies who just got out of their spawn.

That you walk through their spawn to get to the other side is a minor detail.

Your intention is to knife players who just left their spawn not an quick pass to get to an objective f.e. Its pretty clear for an admin to spot the difference.

Edit:
I asked Stephan to look up the ban but he couldnt find anything, not for the ban reason, not in the latest bans not with your various IP's.

Could you go ingame, and enter; /cl_guid (in your console).
You'll get a 32 character string, please post the last 8 characters of it.

My ingame name is immortal technique btw

Yes it's true, that's my tactic and it's not really sc, but not really sp 2 maybe; spawn camping really means staying in spawn (with mg for example, or to xp whore etc) I don't stay their longer then a second and wait long enough before i knife someone... the good thing about is that noone looks behind his/her back while we are leaving spawn area.

Anyway, i'll connect now (as i am home again) and c what it says.

ok, i can connect again

Well i got to say this happens VERY much on PS#3 in the map Goldrush.
Americans do it bigtime and there are members in the game 2 but they don't do anything about it. If it is really against the rules they should really do something about it cause the Americans are "shooting from a distance" into the enemy spawn.
