Punkbuster, Vista and Service Abnormality

Is there ANYONE else in here that gets this SAME error whenever they connect to a PB server? I can play for 2 seconds, then i get kicked for service abnormality, everything in me tells me this is because of this piece of shit OS aka Vista.

Well im not Vista oriented but a few obvious steps;
- update pb (pb/pbweb.exe)
- check your pc for viruses / spyware etc.
- give pb full internet access in your firewall settings

You guys aren't running Zone Alarm are ya?

In another forum someone mentions the file; PnkBstrK.sys
located in; C:\windows\system32\drivers\

and gives it full user rights, seems like a Vista function?

Note #2: This is a restriction kick issued by Punkbuster when it doesn't pass on of the internal tests. We have received reports from users that several versions of Zonealarm may cause this behavior.

I would like a list of your running processes. To get them do this:

Start the game, minimize it, then follow these steps:

Start => Run.. => cmd

Then type:

tasklist /SVC > tasks.txt

That will create a text file with a dumb of your current processes into C:/Documents and Settings/[your user]/tasks.txt. Paste the contents in a new note.

Could be 3 things from what ive red;
- Zone Alarm + anti-virus/firewall software
- problem with your drivers (see PnkBstrK.sys above)
- a virus or infection (which most likely tempered with your pb files)

What you also can try is disable PunkBuster. I have problems with punkbuster when it is enabled i log in on server with punkbuster i can play for 5 mins and than i get kicked by punkbuster for 0 minutes and than i got restart Wolfenstein...

I put on filter so that it doesn't show PunkBuster servers and my problems are over i play on PS#3 now and never have any trouble anymore i never get kicked or anything. And there are a lot of servers that doesn't use PunkBuster.

I also have problems with some servers. It says it needs some program version 2.60b or something like that. I don't really know what i need to get to stop getting those message's i downloaded something for Wolfenstein i think it the program i need for it cause it was version 2.60b. But now i don't know how to plug it in...

Maybe someone can help me with this.

P.S. I dont want to take over the post to get all attention to me sorry for this if you think i am trying to do this.

i played Et in a Vista pc that i were fixing. No problemi with PB... Very strange. Try to update it. I use Kaspersky as antivirus and firewall
