Hey like all we know that cl_timenudge is useless command what bugs your
hitboxes and makes server lags

my opinion is that cl timenudge should be disallowed in ps5 :)

with timenudge noone can hit u and its not about skill anymore game fun goes away.

a cheat is an external device that you add to the game. timenudge is part of the ET code/engine, so its not really a cheat. although, giving yourself an unfair advantage with lame net settings (rate, maxpackets, timenudge) can be considered cheating if you want. in that case most PS regulars would be cheaters lol :P

timenudge was originally developed for the testers, so they could give the bots "fake" pings. the values range from -50 to +20.

it doesn't actually change your ping, it just changes the number of your ping. some argue that the impact on the hitboxes/model is insignificant, while others say that it causes some slight warping and those "shots around the corner" you get sometimes. i personally agree with that.

in ET (not NQ) it's generally considered bad manners to use it and etpro competition configs force it to 0, ie. you'll get a 2 minute pb kick on most etpro servers if it isn't 0. in clanbase and other leagues it's forbidden to use it.

what is more worrying than timenudge though are the sky-rocket rates (like 40000 etc.) or the default low rates (like 5000). also, if everyone would maxpackets at 100 then the game quality would be better for everyone. since ET introduced antilag and nobody really uses isdn anymore there is no excuse for lame net settings imo. and again, most etpro server configs force these net settings and you get pb kicks if you're out of range.

in funmod servers these cvars are usually not forced, simply because most people who play on them are newbish so they have default settings and would get kicks without knowing why. that is why people have such ridiculous net settings in NQ. if everyone would have timenudge 0, maxpacket 100 and rate 25000, then indeed, the game on our servers would be far less warpy.

in other words, if you want clean net settings: go play etpro.

well you can't remove timenudge, it's a client cvar which comes with ET. what you can do is instruct the server pb to kick players if their timenudge is not 0. so first of all you need pb running for that. and since most of our servers don't have pb you see where the problem lies.

i've suggested to forcevar on several occasions, and i guess we could officially disallow it and have admins check the netsettings and enforce negative nudges. but many PS members/admins actually use negative nudges themselves, so there you go...

it seems to be a part of NQ culture and lets be honest, Epa, on PS5 especially, things don't just warp cause of some rambos with fake 0 pings and negative nudges - there are other reasons why NQ warps: however fun NQ is to play, its unfortunately not very well coded software (self-proclaimed modders took the etpub code (which is free) and made an entertaining version of etpub). mix that with 80% of players having maxpackets at 30, a laggy custom map -> warpfest. also don't forget that the q3 engine which ET uses was not meant for so many players, it's coded for 32 slots. any ET server is pretty much unplayble with more than 30 players imho.

no this cvar comes with the game not pb.
so it will stay, and if u guys dont like it then play pro or pub servers.

wasnt referring to PS5 specifically - but ok, could be possible in PS5 and PS2

but i guess my point was - in reply to epa's request about disallowing timenudge - that having pb kicks for timenudge isn't going to make much of a difference.

as i said, if you're going to forcevar netsettings, i'd start with rate and maxpackets first, cause those have a bigger impact than those couple of timenudgers. i mean, 80% of players seem to be playing with the 30 maxpacket default... and if they get 2 minute pb kicks then they'll need instructions about how to correct it (via forum) or, what is more likely, new players will just connect elsewhere... therefore my pessimism.

And what about using a "server side" autoexec.cfg ?
When you connect to ps#1 (I guess other servers do same), you d/l a .pk3 with an autoexec.cfg, which look like :

Just add some default settings for cl_timnudge/maxpackets/snaps and others... (yeah you will still be able to change this in game or througth autoexec2 perso settings, but the new player will have good settings when he connect. If PB restricted -> no kick). Or maybe I'm wrong ? :)
