CPU fan

Ok, i dont know a lot about computers so here is my question about mine cpu fan.

everytime i play ET my computer reboots after a couple of minutes. with these hot days its faster than else. its really frustrating cause i never had the problem before .

do i need other settings or new cpu fan ? this message i get after it reboots.

looks like ur pc is overheating constantly.
Since u R saying it only happens lately, check if a vent isn't stuck or smth.
Ur cpu is way to hot...

Think if u have changed smth in ur cooling settings or in u bios, at wich cpu temp ur pc reboots...
Hopes it helps, ain't a huge pro at hardware but it's smth :wink:

hey wensly,

try undusting the fan. fans usually accumulate a layer of dust and tend to cool less and less well. i have to dust mine out twice a year to avoid overheating :<

If its atx pc there is also possibility that ur power supply adaptor ( feeder, sry dont know english word

) is kinda broken and its gaining huge temperature and cpu is heating with it automatically coz its close... :roll:

Also the pins which are holding radiator on cpu could be unplugged, try if they are moving :roll:

Yes .First clean the dust whit air-compressor, it will blow all the dust in the box! 2 Look the fan, pins, and the radiator. 3 THe fan,radiator and the CPU have to be stiked together! If this dosent work ,my brother is a hardware maniac, it will fix the problem

Yep, and make sure your PC and components got enough room to get rid of their heat. At least 10cm of free space behind all your fan outlets, nothing covering your pc, or wires inside your pc covering/overlapping your fans and processor.

Creating some airflow in your pc is important, not only fans sucking air in but also a (big) fan blowing some warm air out.

And open a window, buy a big ventilator or airconditioning

sorry, had to post here. I was just surfin on the web with my wife when we suddenly ended here.. on the Prime squadron site , probally trough some links or history ^^ , anyway. We laughed both kinda hard , no really super mega turbo(?) hard , because the whole topic is about cleaning youre pc and gettin the dust away.. and then this post

also get sure some stof ( also known as DUST! hahaha ) around the fan is cleaned .. sorry to post but we had to .. muches kissos from us.. and remember kids Stof is Dust !

And cleaning fans with compressor, try to avoid over spin of fan, so it doesnt spins crazy, try to hold it and blow, also make sure you have steady airflow over then disks, as they get hot pretty quick resulting that your disk wont last that long. And most importantly buy a new cooling for your pc, change from the stock cooling, and very important is that it isnt best whats the most expensive, I bought my cooler for CPU for 30eur I wanted to buy one for 50eur , later I saw that the one for 30eur performed better as the expensive one, difference was that the Zalman one(50eur) was beatiful and had blue LED so I wanted it, I come to the shoop they ran out of them, so I bought the cheaper one, and I must say it performs great, it is TT one (ThermalTake) and its quite heavy about 900g.

Keeping tidy is the most important, and please, dont ask if I have everything tidy, cause I dont :twisted:

After cleaning the whole PC

, if the problem is still present, probably there's some strange electrical contacts between your video card and your power feeder.

I had the some problem last month, and risolved it changing my power feeder (about 20 euros).

Yep, for sure you have to clean your fan time to time but the most important think is to change regulary the glue used to stick your fan and CPU (i do it every 6 months). If the two pieces are not sticked well, the fan wont works well and the CPU wont stay at normal tempertaure. You can buy this special glue (called thermic glue) in any PC shop for less than 4 euros. Disjoint fan and CPU, clean up them with alcohol and then put a new layer of glue and stick them again. The original CPU fans sux imo, so you can also change them with a more accurate one, personaly i alwayz used Zalman's fans.

Btw, if it only happen when you play ET, the problem is more from your video card than your CPU. Do also what i said for CPU with your VC fan, change th thermic glue and test again :wink:

. The other way is also to test your PC with another video card (from a friend etc ...) and check how it works.

As I am big fan of Zalman (I really loved it) I dont prefer buying cause:
Its pretty expensive
Its not so well cooling as other (cheaper coolers)
1 Good think maybe

It looks nice.

Just look at tests with Zalman and others, but I MUST say Zalman makes it quite cool and very good looking.
