We have other, secret ways to get attention of players. By slot numer for example. So if someone have strange or stupid nick, including some bad words that cant stop us.

Well,
My opinion on this one is that everyone can use every nick they want if it's not against server rules +

By slot numer for example. So if someone have strange or stupid nick, including some bad words that cant stop us.

People usually AUTOMATICALLY uses player's name instead of player's slot number : P.

on that situation

Yeah, it just doesn't come up into your mind, that you can use player's slot number instead of name

well, its not even that i have any lvls here, but when talking in-game i always use the players name... so when that player has an illegal name i find it difficult to talk to that person.
so my question was, is it possible to have an auto-warn / kick system for forbidden names? in the form of:
change name in 2 min or get kicked?

Problem is that you will need a giant list with all possible variations, on top of that its pretty dangerous to block, lets say the name 'nub' cause there might be players who use those 3 letters as part of their name.

but aint that the same when you use those words in main chat? that you say something with a variation of 'nub' or smthing and you get 60 sec mute? then you might reconsider the whole beiing of the auto-mute system

Yes thats correct. But why should we reconsider?

If a player wants to call himself noob or nub (or another variation) than thats his own choice. Calling someone else a noob/nub is a different situation, which Sebbel already described;

dont insult or provoke

calling someone noob for me is something like provocation... in some cases insult.. well in other cases in friendly way nothing special (example Gewinner^^)

ya dutch.. all in all u cant fix it at the word..

for example when u come online and u say everytime "hi nabs" i know that u dont mean to insult someone .. in this case really no prob..

but in other cases when some people who dont know each other begin to argue for example: "give me ammo, noob" or someone gets killed from behind and dead one whines "backraper - noob" . well sure it depends on situation.. but if i dont know the one who says that to me for me its clear provocation... for some maybe insult...
even the provocer is right in one way because the "victim" is really in his first week playing ET imo its no nice gesture to tell someone what he already knows himself....

good example ...

like this case shows us.. "noob" isnt used to call a real newbie.
more it is synonym for "sucker" "idiot" .. and so on, whatever u want.....

that i dont like and so most variations on the censor....
sometimes you lose - sometimes the others win

Actually NOOB is defined in this way:

"In online gaming, a greater distinction may be made between a "newb" and a "noob." The common consensus is that a "newb" is someone who through their very nature of being a new player is inexperienced and naïve to particular gaming mechanics or etiquette, whereas a "noob" is a player that is generally considered to be experienced, yet often makes mistakes or solecisms that would more likely be attributed to a "newb." The term "noob" can also be applied to someone who is experienced, but blatantly disregards rules and etiquette through personal choice; however, the label "troll" would be more accurate."

Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Noob#Alternative_spellings

And now we know the definiton of noob and newbie.
You say: "Great Shot!"
I say: "aimbot"
