Strange GFX problems
I have been playing ET on the same computer for years but for some reason all of a sudden it is unplayable due to a CONSTANT flashing, i wonder if anyone can help with this? I have uninstalled / reinstaleld etc but it won't stop !
I have taken screenies and videos but it doesnt appear on them so i canot show you what i mean, please does anyone know what causes this?
And preferably how to fix it?

All the time, mainly in heavy action, it's kinda like when you set a refresh rate on a screen that's too high but WORSE, i can't even see the console if i bring it up (down) or hold tab for scores and i can't see that etc
I have tried many things now but it won't stop!

Like i say, GFX card is completely up to date, it happens in every ET game i join and theres no way it's down to the GFX card anyway as the only other game i play is X3 Reunion which is one of the most demanding games on performance i've ever known (especially considering its sys req). If there was a problem with GFX card X3 wouldn't run, it's that demanding i had to upgrade my RAM just to be able to play it about 2 months ago and it runs fine....
...ET was working fine 2 days ago and now this
EDIT: yes it's like a constant 'grey' flash, when i look up at sky it stops but as soon as i start running/ shooting or speccing someone it goe beserk! And it's impossible to play, seriously i dunno what's going on

So what did you change or install 2 days ago?
Its possible that those new drivers dont work very well with an old game like ET, you could try to downgrade but not sure if you need those new ones for your other games.

Ok, havn't changed GFX drivers for about 2 years as its a fairly old card, GF 5700LE 256mb, like i say nothing has changed and everthing been fine for years with this card but ET is the only game affected (i have tried others and they are all fine).
This is seriously confusing.

Hey almost the same card
But ehm.. how is this possible?
"GFX card is completely up to date"
"Ok, havn't changed GFX drivers for about 2 years"
Nvidia released a lot of new drivers over the last 2 years.

Jep, new drivers sometimes make it worse but its always worth the try if you experience problems.
New drivers are more developed, optimized and more efficient in most cases, and of course better support for new games and programs.

That's a fact.
You should first try newest driver for your card.
EDIT:
And of course...

Hmm thats too bad, you tried changing the ingame video settings? 32 bit to 16 bit, or change the video filtering?

No new drivers have been released for that card for ages and i know i have the most up to date ones (81.89 i think they called),i have tried all settings to lowest and the problem just won't go away, i have no ideas why this randomly started happening....or how to fix it...

uuuuuuummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...
Tell me about your deepests feelings..
i meant et settings .
if he says that hes graphic gard is fine and up to date, then why u ask him about hes motherboard??? i think maybe some software problems, maybe uninstall completely and check for viruses.
maybe uninstall completely and check for viruses.
You're the one who should read carefully here,
He has reinstalled his et few times, and its still blinking/flashing,
And I don't think that viruses are able to do this kind of thing -.-...
EDIT:
It might be your monitor what is doing that ?
