1680x1050: Your FPS?

Postby mephir » Wed Aug 06, 2008 14:26

Hi,
i have a 22" TFT - therefore i want to use its native resolution of 1680x1050.
All works properly, but imho i got too less FPS.

CPU: q9450 @ 2,66
RAM: 4Gb
GPU: 8800GTS (G92)

Max-FPS is 76, cause i cant get stable 125 (or more).

Just wondering, what the problem could be. I also play Crysis on this resolution - why i have so "few" FPS with such an old game?

Graphic settings were as high as possible at first, but also with "medium" FPS arent much better (but of course more stable).

How many FPS do you get with 1680x1050?
What hw do you have?

Excuse me Pixel but how do you get a resolution of 1680 x 1050 with ET? I can only get 1280 x 1024 and 1600 x 1200 :s

See I have an 22 " screen too, with graphic card 8800 GTX, which is slightly better than yours and I can get over 600 fps if I stand on a good spot. And over 60-70 stable in heavy battle.

Have a look at this topic Ammz;
I have a problem with custom resolution

@ pixelflat
Are you sure you haven't set antialiasing and/or anisotropic filtering at a value thats too high?

Btw, that 'CPU: q9450 @ 2,66' is that a dualcore or singlecore?

@ammz:
Its a custom resolution, not available in ET Settings.
Code: Select all
seta r_customwidth "1680"
seta r_customheight "1050"
seta r_customaspect "1"
seta r_mode "-1"

Problably thats the reason for lower fps?

@warren:
Thx for link, i will test cg_fov 100.39... ;)

Does ET has any AA or AF settings? At least if so, my pc should be good enough to handle highest option...
According to driver settings, AA/AF is configured by application...

PS: q9450 is not a dualcore OR singlecore - quad ftw! 8O :P

Sweet, I always wanted this.

Am gonna test to see if my FPS drops :) It will probably drop due to higher resolution :).

edit: I tested it, didn't feel any difference in fps performance. My own perfomance though got much better. I do headshots a lot easier now :b it's wonderful hahaha. Ty for this topic.

20" LCD, same resolution, FPS varies between 80 and 125 (capped - doesn't matter what resolution i play with, the fps is the same - old engine i guess)
Gear:
- c2d E6400 @ 2,4GHz
- 2g 800MHz DDR2 ram
- 7950GT 512Mb asus (nvidia) graphics card

On a slower card (7900GT - gigabyte, OCed to 550MHz, 256Mb of VRAM) i could get 333FPS (steady, no drops) - guess it was "supported" by the engine and newer cards are not :(

333FPS?

Which settings do you use? Full details?
Or any special "low-graphics-config"?

You have a really powerful hardware, so is strange that your FPS are so low.

For me that I have old hardware, I disabled the antialiasing in the VGA settings, and my FPS are more than twice now. I can say 125 FPS in the average, with my old Nvidia 6800GT deluxe :)

I also get about 130 FPS, but it drops to the half in heavy battles. So ive setted com_maxfps to 76.

@old-own:
Currently im testing my q9450 @ 3,34Ghz. 8)

If i disable AA in driver, then AA is disabled for all games. :?

I have max FPS 90 (seems to be a hard limit strangely, not very fluctuating). It goes between 85 and 90 depending how crowdy.

I'm playing on a laptop:

specs:

1650x1080, all graphic options maxed.
Kubuntu 8.04, with newest nvidia linux driver
centrino 2 P9500
Geforce 9600M GT
2x2Gb 800Mhz

Wine = Wine Is Not an Emulator

What do i have to edit, except for the resolution?

Code: Select all
seta r_lastValidRenderer       "GeForce 7300 GT/PCI/SSE2/3DNOW!"

What options are there? Also for a 8800GTS?
