I don't know if any of you also had this problem, but since I use an X600 mobile ATI card under linux it's asking for troubles ofc :)

I had mouse problems, the mouse would remain go up and down in diagonal blocks (aka not smooth) in the ET menu.

When starting a game the mouse would remain stationary and the view went up 90° and started making circles.

Currently I have the following run settings:
./et-sdl-sound +set in_dgamouse 2

The et-sdl-sound has been talked about here (aoss, gives you the option to play music from music player, not possible normally with oss, single stream?).

I had to add in_dgamouse 2 to make sure that the mouse stayed in the game, anyone else had this too?

Hello, I wanna know if your guide for xfire with pidgin works for Arch linux.

My tip :

For a graphical installer, you can install libgtk1.2 before installing the game.

@ Blas : better for you is to use the btnx tool. It will make your side mouse buttons work without editing hundreds of weird config files and with a nice graphic interface

You can find the english tuto here : http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=455656&highlight=btnx

I think you should manage the btnx install and cfg with this tuto, anyway if it doesn't work in any way just let me know and I'll write a lil step-by-step guide more detailed than the english tuto.

Yeah !
That's "my" alternative way :P

(in fact, mine is a little bit more complicated to do, but really.. using a hex'library code loaded in a script isn't really a nice way to patch something.. :P)

Since they remapped the keyboard/mouse buttons under Intrepid, my mouse side buttons don't work anymore and when I'm trying to bind those in ET, they're both recognized as KP_EGALS... (so now I can only use/play with one of the side buttons... Annoying!! :P ).

I tried to remap the side buttons with xinput and a HAL .fdi extension file. But it didn't help.

On Hardy, installing Xmodmap solved the problem but since there isn't any Xmodmap version compatible with Intrepid, I couldn't solve it by my own... Any idea ?

(I can post you my xorg.conf, xinput parameters or even my Xserver startup log if it helps)

Thx for interest!!

PS : ah ye forgot... I can't use the btnx tool either since the completely changed the xorg.conf system and drivers.

I searched the net for some clues.
You are using 64bit Ubuntu?

If so, maybe you get something from this. Couldnt find better info for now.
I installed some lib32 compatibility packages
Dont ask which one dont remember.
But i installed one then tried no success
Installed other one tried
Finally succeeded.

I revived a dead project of a site where to get all these tips on. I am just retaking all info possible about ET installation and config by internet, I have put this in my website also (correctly linked and put a banner of you). If you dont want, let me know and i will quit it all.

Regards

P.S.: Website can be viewed here

@ GroundZero

A similar problem is described just a few posts above yours ;)

And the solution for that problem described here;

GoldenBullet wrote:Xfire installation on Gutsy Gibbon HOWTO
-----------------------------------------------------
This installation adds Xfire to ur Pidgin multimessenger. This installation WONT work for feisty fawn! See below the instructions:
1) Download the file from here: http://gfire.sourceforge.net/snapshots/ ... 1_i386.deb

2) Execute the program and unpack it. Agree everything it says.

3) Xfire is now installed. If U are running pidgin right now, restart it.

4) Now go to the user thingy and make new one. Now choose Xfire from the list and fill in needed information.

/end
....................................................................................
Seems U need the Xfire installation to feisty, lets make it.

How install Xfire on feisty fawn
-----------------------------------------------------
This installation adds Xfire to ur gaim. This installation doesnt work for gutsy gibbon!
1) Download the file http://gfire.sourceforge.net/snapshots/ ... 1_i386.deb

2) Extract (nothing special. Just press the button and agree everything)

3) Xfire installed. Now restart gaim if it was on and add ur Xfire account to the list just like MSN or IRC.

If U dont know where gaim is, look up-left corner, press the first button, choose internet and program named "gaim" If its ur first time, there should be info how add and stuff.

There U have it! As simple as that.

Edit: Just noticed that was my 880 post :D

They do work here, have you tried 'save target as' (koppeling/doel opslaan als)?

Otherwise try; http://gfireproject.org/downloads/ which looks to be a newer version.

Wikipedia is your friend. Scrap is rubbish in other words, but I meant starting from clean table ;)
