Laptop
Hey guys,
Two days ago i bought a laptop from a place near my home, this means i can now play e with my bro Redline (Rain) :D:D
But there is one problem i always get really bad lags and i mean really bad 400+ ping
Does anyone know a way that i can reduce pings on laptops?
We both use a wireless broadband connection and we both sit right next to the router.
Thanks for your replyss!

If you both sit next to the router why dont you use an UTP cable ??
Using a wireless connection will lose roughly 25% of the original *dsl speed.
Adding a second client to that wireless connection will only decrease the speed more.
I would suggest to buy an UTP cable, or 2 (they are not expensive and can be bought
at every local pc dealer, ranging 1 meter - 30 meter), that will probably decrease your ping.

What exactly is a UTP cable? my friends here at college said that changing the i.p ddress wont lower ping (they all play counter strike) im really confused about this sort of stuff lol.
At the moment we both cant connect to the internet, i dunno why. Tryed to come on this morning for abit when i was in bed but my dad turned of the router of last night when he came of of ps1 and now it wont work :s
So im guna try mess about with it when im home.

this is an utp cable;
just the standard *dsl cable
edit;
you can also try to open the ports that ET uses on those ip adresses (port forwarding).
You can change this in the config of your router/modem.

it might improve a little but you are better of with just using a cable;

- Code: Select all
port 1 - 27950 - 27950 - udp - local ip adress
port 2 - 27951 - 27951 - udp - local ip adress
port 3 - 27960 - 27960 - udp - local ip adress
